Lamington Natural History Association Bursary – Griffith University

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must:
be full-time enrolled in the Bachelor of Science (Honours) or the honours years of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) degree at Griffith University
have a proposed research topic that relates to the Lamington Natural History Association‚ interests (detailed below)
have achieved a GPA of 5 or above in your relevant undergraduate degree prior to commencing your honours degree.

Eligible research topics

Possible research topics include, but are not limited to:

research that demonstrates or aims to improve the biodiversity of the natural environment field work or surveys association with flora, fauna, aquatic or terrestrial ecosystems, environmental assessment and management initiatives to minimise the risks to the environment education programs to promote understanding and community awareness of environment sustainability.

Preference will be given, but not restricted to, an applicant carrying out a scientific research project related to rainforest ecology, particularly in the Word Heritage listed Gondwana Subtropical Rainforest.

Application information
To be considered for this scholarship, you must complete the following sections within the application.


Study details
Program (continuing students).
Tertiary education history: Academic merit‚ minimum GPA of 5.
Program preferences (commencing students).
Honours and research topic: Provide information relating to your research topic/project and identify a principal supervisor. Remember, selection will be based on research topics that align with Lamington Natural History Association’s interests. Possible research topics are outlined in the eligibility section.

Other: If your undergraduate degree was not completed at Griffith University, you must upload a copy of your transcript.

We cannot guarantee other formats will be accepted.

Value

Maximum value is $1,000 paid in instalments. Instalments of $500 are payable in Trimester 1 and 2, provided conditions are met.
Payment
Payments are made up to six weeks after the census date, subject to the recipient satisfying scholarship terms and conditions.

Terms and Conditions

To remain eligible for the scholarship, recipients will be required to:
remain full-time enrolled at Griffith University in the degree for which the bursary was awarded
continue to meet the eligibility requirements maintain a GPA of 5 or above present a printed copy of the research report to the Lamington Natural History Association and be available to present a talk at one of the LNHA quarterly gatherings. These presentations shall be completed before the end of the year following receipt of the bursary.
The above conditions are verified each trimester at census date. If a scholarship recipient fails to successfully meet these conditions, scholarship payments may be withheld, or the scholarship may be terminated.


Applications, including any supporting documentation, must be completed and submitted by the closing date.

Applicants may be shortlisted and be required to provide additional information.
Griffith University reserves the right to withdraw an advertised scholarship at any time.
